Being a night adventure I left the torch in my pack and allowed my eyes get accustomed to the lower light. A single glow worm revealed it’s presence so I stopped to take a photo and marvel at it’s ability to generate luminescence… rather poetic considering the light and dark theme of the Solstice.
I arrived at the chain ferry before sunrise and strolled the shoreline taking in the peace and solitude. With a flat phone battery I had no way of telling the time but it really didn’t matter… the sun would definitely be there when it was meant to. No sooner than my mug of brandy hot chocolate was ready, the sun crept over the horizon. Of my numerous Solstice trips this was only the third time the sun was not obscured by cloud and I watched it actually rise rather than slowly fading in.
With sublime timing a solitary boat passed between me and the sun at the exact moment it rose above the horizon…
What are these photos about? (Optional)
Several Barrel Jellyfish were washed up along the shoreline and featured amazing translucent contours… they looked like props from a science fiction film.
Using my tracking skills I deduced this must be a three legged bear that swam ashore and shook itself dry. Must have escaped from Brownsea Island where they roam wild.
