Day and Night are the same length today. Winter officially gives way to Spring and it's also a Full Moon tonight so definitely feeling the urge to head out into nature.
My pace is set by the flow of the crystal clear stream...
I turn into the woods and follow a desire path... the fantastic name given to a route formed by human or animal foot fall over time and quite different from a formal footpath.
Starting to notice more detail now... the sound of birds announcing my presence... the aroma of Wild Garlic carpeting the woodland floor.
Picking a few unopened buds I look for other nibbles to go in my single rice tortilla! This is more symbolic than a slap up meal and foraging with sensitivity is a great way to engage with nature.
Certain Wild flowers such as Primrose (Primula vulgaris) and Common dog-violet (Viola riviniana) are now regarded as ok to pick in moderation according to a leading conservation charity Plantlife UK... but only in accordance with a strict code of conduct including not taking any where there is scarcity and definitely not pulling them up by the roots.
There are so many amazing things to observe once you tune in...
Eventually I get to the quiet place where I like to rest and reset... and eat!
I'll tell you all about these and other wild edibles in another story but if you've been following my leisurely adventures you'll probably recognise the strange looking but efficient twig powered stove.
Once the stinging nettles are cooked just enough to pacify their little needles the other greens go in, followed by the edible flowers once the pot is away from the heat. That rice tortilla I mentioned earlier gets a quick soak in warm water then it's stuffed with today's random selection and a pinch of salt.
and there it is... my Spring Equinox Wrap!
Thanks for coming along with me today. My stories tend to appear infrequently and randomly so please subscribe so you don't miss out... and feel free to share the Love by telling a friend about the lesser spotted Bimbler.
Happy Equinox!
